Matthew joined FAIRR in 2023 and is a senior analyst working on the Protein Diversification engagement. His work explores how displacing the sale of animal protein with plant-based proteins can support the food system to meet climate targets.

Working at FAIRR

Matthew provides in-depth quantitative and qualitative research and analysis that support the development and implementation of FAIRR’s Protein Diversification engagement. Specific to Protein Diversification, Matthew plays a lead role in researching how displacing the consumption of animal protein with plant-based whole foods can have positive outcomes for human health, nature and the climate. Matthew has also worked within FAIRR’s Climate workstream, exploring how nature-based solutions can contribute to reaching both climate and nature targets and has also researched the public health and economic impacts of avian flu for policymakers, companies and investors.

Experience

Before joining FAIRR Matthew worked for The Asia Foundation based in their Bangkok office where his focus was on improving ASEAN regional cooperation using human trafficking and transnational crime as pillars for cooperation. Following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Matthew played a central role in the Foundation's COVID-19 relief strategy, co-authoring two publications that measured the impact of COVID-19 on Thai workers and MSMEs.

Matthew holds an MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London and a BA in Public Administration from the Hague University of Applied Sciences.
